Auronzo di Cadore is a small town in the area of the Dolomites in the Belluno area, famous for being the Country of the Three Peaks of Lavaredo recognized by UNESCO as a Universal Heritage of Humanity. A mountain resort loved by Italian and foreign tourists, Auronzo di Cadore is convenient for being a strategic starting point for excursions and high-altitude activities in summer and winter.
The Three Peaks of Lavaredo are popular destinations for many tourists from all over the world and are considered the "Queens of the Dolomites": these peaks are easily reached by car, through the panoramic road that goes up from Misurina.
Or there are also many routes that can be done on foot by going up the Rienza valley, or from Lake Landro, from the Fiscalina valley, or from Auronzo di Cadore going up first through Val Marzon and then through Vallon di Lavaredo.
The Tre Cime di Lavaredo take their name from the Grande Cima with an altitude of 2,999 meters above sea level, from the Cima Ovest with an altitude of 2,973 and the Cima Piccola with a height of 2,857.
The Three Peaks of Lavaredo are located within the Natural Park of the Sesto Dolomites and fall by 3/4 in the Municipality of Auronzo di Cadore and 1/4 in the territory of Dobbiaco.
From the Three Peaks of Lavaredo you can see truly unique and sensational views, to be photographed with eyes and heart, and perhaps one of the most striking views is the one that can be admired from the north face of Monte Paterno.
